Starship Zenyatta crushes her tiny competition (Charles Pravata)
Zenyatta stays undefeated by sitting fairly far behind the pack, going wide around the turn and blowing by field in a hand ride. I consider Mike Smith to be somewhat of an over whipper so the fact that he was all hands in the stretch speaks volumes about her performance.
Long shot Model looked game for second but Tough Tiz’s Sis couldn’t give Zenyatta a run for it today. I reiterate my point about Zenyatta in the Classic.

That horse is a freak. 7 for 7 on four surfaces. three synthetics and one dirt track. I was standing right outside the tunnel at Del Mar before the race. She was well manored in her extended stay in the paddock after one of the horses had a shoe problem. Once she entered the tunnel to make her way to the track she just started snorting and posturing and became so full of herself that it was scarey. It was like watching a dragon just before it was about to ascend in the air and blast a huge firecloud on everything below. I’ve officially named her “The Dragon Lady”. The Amazon Queen still works though.
She’s a smart horse. I’ve photographed her a few times, and every time I have she’s stopped, bowed her neck, pricked her ears and smiled for the camera. She’s very inquisitive and well aware of what is going on around her.
Jerry Moss has a three year old filly named Mondatta (yet to race) who is gonna be hard pressed to live up to what Zenyatta has done so far.
Thanks for sharing! A couple of people have pointed out to look at how big she is as she passes Model. Once I noticed it I started laughing… it’s like the Titanic passing a tug boat.
yep. That’s what I thought as well. She’s bigger than alot of colts. She looked huge yesterday. She ran a few paths out in the middle of the track, so that helped make her look even bigger. You know is also pretty big, Well Armed. I was impressed with his size when he ran a few weeks ago.

Yeah, Lava Man is a true fan favorite… I also love how the government in racing poll drew SO little interest.
