Birthers, Deathers and Now Zenyattaistas
Last night I got a comment on my Zenyatta vs. Rachel Alexandra poll post (that’s the first search result for “Zenyatta vs Rachel Alexandra“) that said:
I forwarded this comment on to pal Jessica with a note:
Just got this. Will they ever give up?
She wrote back:
Ha! We need a name for this phenomenon, along the lines of Birthers and Truthers. The Deniers? Zenyattaistas?
Indeed. Duckers and BCers also come to mind, but since it seems rooted in that pesky and previously discussed sports fan behavior, Zenyattaistas seem most appropriate.

Rachel derangement syndrome. They won’t give up.
Neither one is ducking the other. Stars just aren’t aligned. Both of them.
Jason - ha ha! Got yet another comment over there about JJ… tenacious.
E - Agree totally. Sometimes it’s just not meant to be.
It’s quite possible that Zarkava is/was better than both the American fillies.
Even if the race happened it wouldn’t end the debate. What if Rachel doesn’t get out of the gate? What if Zenyatta was checked in the stretch? What if the track came up sloppy or plasticcy?
Some things can’t be measured on one race alone.
IMHO, Rachel has the better Form lines now by a long shot. Perhaps Zenyatta’s team is happy to have her retire as the best Californial girl of the decade.
I like Jason’s line best. Only term that pops up to me is ZenNOTas?
Awesome! I hope they don’t let their kids watch commie races with Rachel as a result.
I love both, but come on - 8 wins in a season vs. 3 so far is pretty easy math.
Keith - ah yes, the other Z. honestly I think some west coasters are feeling 1) left out of the fun and 2) insulted by the plastic diss, but hey, it’s not our fault Moss/Sherriffs are going the safe route! and ZenNOTas is pretty funny.
SF - indeed!
Anyone who visits TRNY knows I’m not the biggest RA fan, and I’ll admit it’s probably because of her fans, but the only people to blame are the schmucks who gave us two Breeders Cups in a row on the nightmare known as Santa Anita’s main track.
Long before Rachel emerged, I decided to skip this year’s Breeders Cup too– I booked work for both days of this year’s Cup.
